The ULELC is chaired by an appointee from one of the member organizations. The current chairman is Director Sid Groll. The ULELC is located at the Utah State Capitol during the General Sessions of the Utah State Legislature. Staff support is provided by interns selected from college students with interests in politics, government and public safety. If you are interested in an internship, email us by clicking on the link at the left side of this page.
The ULELC meets every Monday morning during the legislative session at 1000 hours in the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ) conference room in the East building of the Capitol complex. Meetings are not open to the public, but are open to Utah public safety officers, employee of a member organization and invited guests only. Legislators are always welcome to address the ULELC during one of the regularly scheduled meetings. A Legislator may contact ULELC Chairman Frank Budd for an appointment that fits the Legislator's schedule. The ULELC publishes a weekly position paper on this website, listing all bills in which the ULELC has taken a position by majority vote. The final 2010 ULELC bill list, showing ULELC positions taken and the passage/failure status of the bills, is posted on this site.
